Nadav kander has used some good clothes to make this a great photo and the clothes make him look like he is going to go to work at an office or he has just come home from work and is leaning against the wall and the mood this guy looks like he is in a bad mood after he has come home from work or he is in a bad mood before he has gone to work because someone has annoyed him but he looks like he focusing on something that is either going past or a particular object. The colour he is wearing a sort of brown suit and jumper and a brown and white shirt I think he chose this because it could blend in with the white wall in the background or it is the light that makes it blend in to the background and I have just noticed that there is a blue bit at the bottom just so that it makes the wall look more interesting

three point lightning

Three-point lighting is a standard method used in visual media such as theatre, video, film, still photography and computer-generated imagery. By using three separate positions, the photographer can illuminate the shot's subject however desired, while also controlling the shading and shadows produced by direct lighting. In indoor shots, the key is commonly a specialized lamp, or a camera's flash. In outdoor daytime shots, the Sun often serves as the key light. In this case, of course, the photographer cannot set the light in the exact position he or she wants, so instead arranges it to best capture the sunlight, perhaps after waiting for the sun to position itself just right. In some situations a photographer can use a reflector (such as a piece of white cardstock mounted off-camera, or even a white-painted wall) as a fill light instead of an actual lamp. Reflecting and redirecting the key light's rays back upon the subject from a different angle can cause a softer, subtler effect than using another lamp.

A three point system in theatre can be used in a variety of ways to help set a mood of the character. By having bright key light, but minimal fill and back light, this will give the effect of anger, whereas if the scene is very brightly lit with little shadow on the actor, this can make the scene look very happy.

Nadav Kander (born December 1, 1961) is a London-based photographer, artist and director, known for his portraiture and landscapes. Kander has produced a number of books; had his work exhibited widely; he received an Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Photographic Society in 2015, won the Prix Pictet and a world press photo award; and his work is included in the collections of the National Portrait Gallery, the Société Générale, Paris, Pictet & Cie’s Art Collection and other museums and galleries.On 18 January 2009 Kander had 52 full colour portraits published in one issue of The New York Times Magazine. These portraits were of the people surrounding US President Barack Obama, from Joe Biden (Vice President) to EUGENE KANG (Special Assistant to The President). This is the largest portfolio of work by the same photographer The New York Times Magazine has showcased in one single issue In July 2012 Kander exhibited at the National Portrait Gallery National Portrait Gallery in London with a series of portraits celebrating London's hosting of the 2012 summer Olympics. In 2014 Kander was among the 18 photographers chosen to be a part of Constructing Worlds: Photography and Architecture in the Modern Age, an exhibition at the Barbican Centre  in London, and toured, which explored the ability of architectural photography to reveal wider truths about our society

binary opposition

A binary opposition is a pair of related terms or concepts that are opposite in meaning. Binary opposition is the system by which, in language and thought, two theoretical opposites are strictly defined and set off against one another. It is the contrast between two mutually exclusive terms, such as on and off, up and down, left and right. Binary opposition is an important concept of structuralism, which sees such distinctions as fundamental to all language and thought. In structuralism, a binary opposition is seen as a fundamental organizer of human philosophy, culture, and language.

rule of thirds

The rule of thirds is a rule of thumb or guideline which applies to the process of composing visual images such as designs, films, paintings, and photographs. The guideline proposes that an image should be imagined as divided into nine equal parts by two equally spaced horizontal lines and two equally spaced vertical lines, and that important compositional elements should be placed along these lines or their intersections. Proponents of the technique claim that aligning a subject with these points creates more tension, energy and interest in the composition than simply centering the subject.

contact strip

this contact strip is a photographic image produced from film; sometimes from a film negative, and sometimes from a film positive. In a darkroom an exposed and developed piece of photographic film is placed emulsion side down, in contact with a piece of photographic paper, light is briefly shone through the negative and then the paper is developed to reveal the final print.The defining characteristic of a contact print is that the resulting print is the same size as the original, rather than having been projected through an enlarger.

our photo was taken by Nathan and by the way he took it he is using the looking up close up to get a light source I also like the photo is because the way I am looking at something as to make it a good photo.

andy gotts photography

Andy gotts photography shows how he uses close ups and how he shows peoples expressions and there moods and possibly there lifestyle and interests.  He is most noted for his black and white portraits of Hollywood actors. Gotts' recent project is based around the history of the savoy hotel, London, England.

In December 2007 the savoy hotel is being closed down for two years for a total revamp. Gotts spent a period of time photographing different rooms and items from the hotel, with each image containing a celebrity to highlight the glamorous lifestyle of the Savoy; but none of the celebrities have been named in the project as it is the Savoy that is the star of the photography and the celebrities are just props used to decorate the rooms or anecdotes. Normally it is the celebrities that are the main feature of Gotts' photographs; so it was fantastic to view the famous people as only supporting artists to the Savoy's leading part.
